The AJPO will now work toward merging the AES with the US Ada Compiler Evaluation Capability (ACEC). Details regarding the merger will be forthcoming. A copy of the agreement signed by the US and UK is provided below. For more information, contact: Ada Information Clearinghouse, 1/800-232-4211 or 1/703-685-1477. - - ------------------------------------------------------------------ ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF LICENSE OF Ada EVALUATION SYSTEM 1. Purpose. This document acknowledges the transfer of Ada Evaluation System rights from the Ministry of Defence of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Department of Defense of the United States of America. 2. Background. The Department of Defense of the United States of America (US DoD), under the auspices of the Ada Joint Program Office (AJPO), has developed an Ada compiler performance and usability test suite known as the Ada Compiler Evaluation Capability (ACEC). The Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK MOD) has developed a suite of tests, known as the Ada Evaluation System (AES), to examine Ada compilers and other aspects of an Ada Programming Support Environment. An examination of both ACEC and AES suites by the Department of Defense has shown that there are certain user benefits to be gained through a merger of the subject suites into a single suite. As the office responsible for the ACEC, the Ada Joint Program Office desires to merge the ACEC and the AES for the benefit of the US DoD, and ultimately, through wide-spread distribution, for the benefit of the Ada user community as a whole, including the UK MOD. To that end, the AJPO desires to implement an ACEC merger with the AES, and upon completion make this merged suite available to anyone who requests it. To accomplish this, the merged suite will be categorized as "Approved for Public Release, Distribution is Unlimited". The AJPO will solely fund and manage this effort. 3. License. In order to effect the subject merger, the UK MOD hereby grants the US DoD a worldwide, nontransferable, irrevocable, non- exclusive, royalty-free license to practice (make, use or transfer) the Ada Evaluation System and unlimited use and reproduction rights in its technical information.
