No no, that's not what we are talking about here at all, no official new standard activity has been started. However, the ARG is considering individual AI's that discuss recommended extensions, including e.g. useful pragmas and attributes as this case. These recommendations will be approved by WG2.1, but do not constitute an official modification of the standard (the word official in Tom's post was confused). However, in practice, there is sufficient vendor and user input into the process that once they are approved, they are likely to be implemented in a reasonably uniform way.
