Mathilda Ave, Sunnyvale, CA. This meeting is being conducted jointly with the local Peninsula Chapter ACM. The no-host cocktail hour will begin at 6:00, and dinner will be served at 7:00. Jolie Mason of Unisys will be the guest speaker. -- ABSTRACT -- Jolie contends that Ada is the best computer language for use by handicapped individuals and will speak and demonstrate why she feel as she does. Ada can reduce the expensive special customized interfaces usually required by the handicapped. These interface alternatives, for instance, for a bell or flashing cursor signaling a process conclusion, are not only useful for the handicapped. Computers that use standard video imaging, but also layer additional explanation through speech could educate, demonstrate, or entertain more effectively. Flexibility will be possible as a natural consequence of the adaptable and reliable interfaces contributed by the handicapped. -- DINNER INFORMATION -- The dinner selection is either Chicken Cordon Bleu or Coulotte Steak at $14.50 for members of either the chapter or SIGAda. Wine is included with the meal price if reservations are made, otherwise wine is an additional $2.00. To make reservations call (408)-946-4913 by 6 March 1989. There is no charge to attend the talk only (which begins at 8:00), but please make reservations so sufficient space can be made.
