Yes, as "mgrojo" pointed out. Moreover, .deb files are really "ar" archives containing two files: data.tar.gz (the files of the package) and control.tar.gz (the installation scripts). So therefore: $ ar xf ada-reference-manual_20021112web-3_all.deb $ tar xvzf data.tar.gz But in the long run, it is easier to just install Debian :) -- Ludovic Brenta.
