This concept, while not new, has had limited success until recent advances in programming technology and languages. In order to better track the advances made in the state of the practice of reusability in software, I have organized sessions at two conferences during the first quarter of 1987: HICSS20, The 20th Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences January 6-9, and IEEE Computer Society COMPCON Spring 87, March 2-5 in San Francisco. Also, I have submitted a proposal to the editors of IEEE Software for a special issue on Reusability. Finally, if interest warrants, perhaps a second workshop on Issues in Reusability might be appropriate. Papers are being solicited to focus on the following topics as they apply to reusability in programming: * Components * Component Libraries * Composition Methodology * VHLL and POL * Application Generators * Transformation Systems * Software Manufacturing For further information, contact.
