Please try to reproduce from 'emacs -Q':

# in shell:
$ emacs -Q

;; in Emacs:

M-x list-packages

;; should show ada-mode 5.0.1 installed

C-x C-f <an Ada file>

If that works, the problem is somewhere in your .emacs

If it doesn't work, the problem is in the Debian distribution of emacs.
In that case, I'll investigate.
