Only if you restrict your statement to embedded applications. The embedded application market is a tiny sliver of the total application market place, particularly if we are talking work station class machines (as we are in the case of 64-bit architectures). Obviously embedded applications will continue to use 8-bit and 16-bit processors for some time, so no one is suggesting that all embedded applications wlil go to 64-bits.
