I'm not sure how this solves the problem. If each user sets up the formatting editor the way they like, then you're still going to get lots of different formats. On the other hand, if one person sets up the formatting editor (e.g. using ada-mode on emacs) then no one has to worry about how it looks as the editor will have taken care of it.
