How is it that Rational is considered "old guard", yet Aonix is not? After all, an incarnation of each of them was a bidder for the the Ada83 implementaion. I suspect the endemic problem, *if indeed there is one*, is that Rational's software engieering tools business has vastly overshadowed their Ada business. Aonix's only other major business that I am aware of is GUI builders and graphical software visualization tools. So instead why not make the claim that each company's other business activities color their approaches to problems in the Ada world? So Rational tries to bludgen to death every problem with external software tools, while Aonix spends an immense amount of effort on a nice GUI front end for everything, yet doesn't bother to provide mundane stuff like optimization options.
