Not just modest, but drastically obsolete. For $1000 you can get a 550Mz Athlon machine with 128 meg of memory that conservatively should be a full four times faster than the machine you are using. This is of course also off topic, but it is worth reminding everyone that remarkable amounts of computing power are available cheaply for Ada development purposes. We recently (for about $2000) acquired a 750MHz Athlon machine with 256 meg of memory and 30 gig of disk. This machine runs a full two times faster than a 450MHz Pentium III (thus the Athlon is equivalent to about a 900MHz Pentium III for this kind of processing, which involves compiling, running tests etc). Be careful of benchmarks in PC magazine etc, these benchmarks are heavily weighted by graphics mucking and other stuff that is quite irrelevant to typical Ada development.
