I am referring to several customers of ours who have expressed that opinion. These are also customers who appreciate the fact that you do NOT have to use the VMS style DCL commands to run GNAT, but can in fact use something similar to the standard Unix commands. ; counterexample - I also > program > on DUX (Digital UNIX - now Compaq's Tru64 unix), and on that > platform I prefer the "native debugger" ladebug and not GDB; > again that is because of the usability of ladebug (hint: it > looks a lot like VMSdebugger to me) and my lack of expertise > with GDB; Well I am not sure that Alpha/VMS vs Alpha/Tru64 Unix was what I had in mind when I talked about multi-platform development. it is hardly surprising that ladebug might have some similarities to VMS debug. Indeed what you say here really strengthens my point. If you are working on multiple targets, you prefer tools that work the same on all targets. I am afraid that by no stretch of the imagination does VMS debug meet this criterion, and I am afraid that you will NOT find a debugger you like on many targets (indeed on such targets as VxWorks, the only game in town is GDB, since Wind River, has standardized on GDB, a decision that will be followed by a number of large players in the near future.
