I don't think it's a silly idea at all. I agree, it isn't silly. People were unsure because it was posted on or about April Fool's Day. I don't know that reworking the existing kernel in another language will buy you a lot, though -- it would not benefit from the development work in the main line of development, you'd always be playing catch-up on new features, and there would be almost no motive for people to switch over to it. Bruce, you might consider developing a binding to the existing kernel, and trying to coordinate an effort to write interesting tools in Ada.
