Since one of the major motivations for writing in assembly language is performance, it is generally not very helpful to ignore timing issues. Anyway, in saying that assembly language was a complex programming environment, I was specifically referring to the scenario where you are programming in assembly language and the performance is an important part of the spec. I see this is posted to comp.lang.ada, comp.vxworks and comp.realtime.
