No, but there is one for UCAR's netCDF format, a competing scientific
data format.  The author posts here often and I'll let him state when
its ready for release.

If you just want to use a data format for portability or self documenting
reasons then I recommend you try it.  If you _must_ have HDF then you
need to cobble one together.
