All PAL Card Catalog entries now show the size and date/time (of last update) of every file. This will help users determine more easily if updates have been made to assets of particular interest. The PAL Card Catalog entires for all 600+ assets have been updated. The new format may be viewed at the Washington University archive: http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/languages/ada/pal.html SOURCE: Richard Conn, mailto:conn@monmouth.com, http://monmouth.com/conn ********************************************************************** INTEROPERATION OF ADA AND JAVA Topic: Ada In the December 1997 issue of Crosstalk, the topic of Ada/Java interoperation in distributed systems using ADEPT is discussed. The Advanced Distributed Engineering and Programming Toolset (ADEPT) was originally developed as a tool to build distributed systems using the GNAT Ada compiler. Based on this work, the interoperation of Ada and Java using distributed or remote objects is being explored as a means to capitalize on the complimentary advantages of the two languages to develop a new generation of distributed systems. The lessons learned may be accessed via the AdaIC Web Site at: http://sw-eng.falls-church.va.us/AdaIC/projects/ or directly at: http://www.magi.com/~wb/ada95.html SOURCE: AdaIC ******************************************************************** The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Center for Computer Systems Engineering Information Clearinghouse (CFCSEIC) "Center for Computer Systems Engineering News Briefs" is a compilation of summaries from software engineering-related articles in trade magazines, newsletters and press releases.
