Can there be much doubt that people who are born rich have >more influence on the rest of us than those who are born poor.? Of course. But that's just a fact of life. It's also true that those that are born smart will _tend_ to have more influence on the rest of us than those who are born stupid. Unless, of course, the stupid are born into positions of power and prestige that they cannot ordinarily lose, such as into the nobility of old. There used to be a saying in this country, "Shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations." It's not quite like that anymore. It's getting to be more like Europe with hereditary dynasties, thanks to all the legal and tax protections the extremely rich have purchased for themselves. David Rockefeller is a good example. If he'd been born a century ago, he'd have lost his entire vast fortune long before he reached his current age. Larry
