Why was the request to remove the offensive post itself posted to 
"comp.lang.java.advocacy" where I am. I'm not in the pascal group.

Looks like the requestor is doing the same thing as the offender complained 
of, ie unwanted cross posting, also known as over-post-replying, or 
too-difficult-to-remove-extraneous-newsgroups reply-posting.
