However, APL does have ways of avoiding the bubblegum of dealing with subscripts and manually tracking just how many elements are in the array. It takes those details out of your concern and lets you focus on the problem. People are stupid and have great difficulty with information overload. Anything the computer can do for itself, should be taken out of applications. It very difficult to appreciate the value of this if you have never programmed any other way other than buried in bubblegum.
