The Software Engineering Information Center has become a part of the new Computer Systems Engineering Information Clearinghouse (CSEIC). The CSEIC is a service of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Center for Computer Systems Engineering (CFCSE). Despite the name change, the CSEIC News Briefs will continue to bring you the latest in software engineering-related information. For more information, visit the CSEIC Homepage: . SOURCE: CSEIC *********************************************** DII COE TRAINING COURSE NOW ON-LINE Topic: DII, COE An on-line training course "DII COE Management Overview" is now available on the DII COE Homepage. The URL for the course is: . This course requires the use of Neuron, which is a plug-in for Netscape available from the Asymetrix Neuron Web site located at: . #####IMPORTANT NOTE AFTER INSTALLING NEURON##### After you download and install Neuron please open the program group that was set up on your desktop. Then double click on "non-secure mode" this will allow the training module to run. When Neuron first installs it sets itself up in secure mode only. After you have started any of the sections you can also click the right mouse button to bring up a navigation menu. The DII COE Listserv provides an unmoderated forum for COE developers and users to disseminate information, share ideas and lessons learned, collaborate, and post questions and answers. Messages may be received through the user's e-mail reader, or, for those who do not wish to subscribe to the listserv, messages may be viewed through an organized archive on the CSEIC WWW site at: . To subscribe to the DII COE Listserv, send a message to: mailto:listproc@sw-eng.falls-church.va.us In the body of the message, write: subscribe diicoe To unsubscribe, write: unsubscribe diicoe No signatures please. The goal of the project is to investigate the problem, propose solutions, and share the lessons learned by engaging in a technology transition effort. The objective of the project is generally to advance the state of debugger technology. Solutions to the problems may involve changes in both compiler and debugger technology. In his article, Jensen discusses the major reuse cost impacts and describes a rational method for projecting cost and schedule for software developments that incorporate reusable and COTS software components.
