The four-year Command and Control Product Line (CCPL) program, run by Electronic Systems Center, will expand the department initiative for taking software code developed for one project and later using it in future development efforts. The Air Force expects its contractors to make as much use as possible of existing software assets. Col. John "Drew" Hamilton, interim chief of the Ada Joint Program Office (AJPO), was handpicked by his predecessor Charles Engle. "He's not just technically qualified," said Engle. "He also knows the military culture, the Pentagon, the political atmosphere." "Drew is a great choice," said Robert Dewar, president of Ada Core Technologies. "Chuck [Engle] did a great job too, but it's good to see the mantle passed to someone who will carry on the work."
