The total development cost of GNAT and its tool set so far has been something like $15 million, and the development continues at a rapid pace. And that does not include the huge past and present investment in GCC and the GNU tools infrastructure. Yes, the DoD contract helped get things going, no doubt about it. But once ACT was formed as a company we have many development projects that are entirely internally funded. For example, the current development of our new integrated development environment (GPS - GNAT Programming System) is int his category. By the way, please don't misuse the term public domain. No ACT software is in the public domain. Ada Core Technologies provides supported licensed copyrighted software, as do other software companies.
