That sword cuts both ways; if you think that Ada 95 is perfect and that PL/I has nothing to offer, I suspect that you either don't know Ada very well or don't know PL/I very well. In fact, I am suspicious of the qualifications of anyone who can't find flaws in his preferred languages or who can't find good points in at least one language that he despises. I find it interesting that you defended the charge that Ada lacks expressive power by saying that you could always build an abstraction to encapsulate a subroutine, instead of citing some of the areas where Ada has more expressive power than PL/I. You accuse Mr. Dewar of being ignorant, but you have laid yourself open to the same charge. If you tell me that your failure to mention certain features doesn't mean that you are unaware of them, well, the same could be true for Mr. Dewar's failure to mention things that he may not have considered relevant.
