Does AdaCore offer a run-time system for one of the low cost
�controllers? Such as the ones offered by Freescale, Atmel, ...?
I know there is some effort to make GNAT an option on AVR,
but nothing mature so far, and surely not as convenient as
the alternatives that are packed with low cost boards.

So either look for one of the other Ada compilers,
or have some vendor write a run-time system, or write
one yourself. That's not for small shops, I should think.

On a managerial scale, estimating costs might show that porting
a compiler/writing a run-time system is well in reach of
a big-budget project (providing for long-term profit). But still,
I bet that they will call a manager an idiot if he/she
suggests any of this given the inexpensive, field-proven
alternatives. They'd see of huge risk associated with non-standard
(a.k.a. non-lemming) solutions: failure can easily be ascribed
to the non-standard solution, whatever the real causes are.
