(The scale refuses to operate now, resetting does not have any effect.) It does not have inputs or outputs, except maybe hidden on its main boards, which measures about 2cm x 1cm, but I cannot easily take a look. Another item with digital electronics embedded is an older battery charger that has an RS 232 serial connector. If you know the prices of contemporary battery chargers then you know there cannot be any $30,- PC hardware in it. And we have a microwave oven. I doubt it has ethernet, although it seems a likely candidate, given all the attempts at home automation; I'm also guessing that it's got a very moderate, yet capable micro controller in it, not a PC. (The user may operate 13 buttons and two rotary knobs, and watch an LCD display.) Do microwave ovens have HiRes timers?
