If you're trying to learn Windows programming at the same time as C++, I advise against it. A much better plan is to learn C++ well before getting involved with Windows. To learn C++, you might want to take a look at my book, "Who's Afraid of C++?" (ISBN 0-12-339097-4), which comes with a 32-bit C++ compiler for DOS. It's designed for self-study by people with any (or no) level of prior programming experience. I'd be interested to hear what you think of the book if you have a chance to look at it.
