There is only really one Open Source compiler and runtime infrastructure with thriving support. It also lacks several important features on a variety of platforms. Mono has essentially two^H^H^Hone sponsors^H. Implementations are revolving around VMs ported to Novell's SuSE Linux. Major database systems have been announced to be gradually replaced by VistaDB. You cannot hope to be porting high security applications to a variety of platforms without buying a proprietary C# compiler. Conslusion: Therefore, the future of C# is at risk! I know this comment isn't obviously construtive.
