Same here. The first thing I do with any new system (Irix, SunOs, HP/UX, Windows, etc.) is install emacs, gcc, gnat, and co. If anything, on Windows it is *easier*, since prebuilt binaries are available. It doesn't quite beat Linux, since those all come with Linux to start.
