(RTEMS was one. MaRTE was another) Its been suggested that they might make a good starting point for developing something more along the lines of a PC/Workstation OS. Something like that would constitute "A Good Start" towards having a viable Ada operating system - and possibly one with product distinction. ("Sure you can use Windows, but it doesn't have a 'Realtime Mode', so it isn't suitable for a whole class of applications... Or, you could use this Ada OS I happen to have in my back pocket... ;-) But as far as I can tell, AdaOS is a hobby and isn't making lots of headway. (Possibly setting its initial aims too high?) Someone would have to see either some academic research interest or commercial interest in trying to go build a working OS since it is a lot of work and isn't likely to show steady progress unless someone is getting paid to do it.
