But if I manufacture a gazorenthorpe with a PowerPC processor in it and I program it in Ada and then go sell the gazorenthorpe to the end customer, what does he care? What language is your VCR programmed in? What about your word processor? Do you know? Do you care? At that level, all you care about is that it works and you got it for a good price. So if someone writes their RFP stipulating that it must be done in Java, oh well. That's a job we're not bidding on. (Or you make a proposal to do the whole job invisibly in Ada and that your $$$ figure is better than everyone else's because Ada is so clearly superior that you can get the job done at substantially lower cost, correct? Or maybe we don't believe that?) But why not come up with some end product that the customer doesn't care about the software beyond the point that it works? Build some useful little thingamabob that satisfies some need and program it in Ada. Sell it successfully and Ada jobs will be created. If Ada jobs are created, there will be more Ada programmers in the world. More Ada programmers makes a healthier environment in which Ada can flourish. It ain't gonna happen if we keep waiting for the rest of the world to see the wisdom of building things in Ada. MDC Pascal Obry wrote: > > That's only part of the problem.
