Paritcularly in the case of VMS, with its unusual structure of directory names, there is some special tailoring of the GNAT system interface code. Also tasking does not pop out free. Bevin is quite right, making a version of GNAT that is a fully functional susbtitute for current Dec Ada compilers is not zero work!
