But is it new ? In 1990 "everybody" said that Ada was finished (without having quit a very restricted circle), that "now it is C++". Around 1993 (10 years!) the creators of GNAT surely felt that it was an unique chance to broaden the user base of this language by making a free compiler - and support the more usable Ada 9X language. My gut feeling is that, for this never well known general-purpose language, 2003 is the best year ever, in terms of geographic and programming area domains - and it could even improve, while remaining small in terms of "market share". The only solid fact to draw from that could be that the US military are not optimally profiting from "their" investment - hum, or from the taxpayer's... Is it a surprise ? Funnily they seem to love Java, just when "everybody" says that Java is finished, that "now it is C#". Surely in 8-10 years they'll find C# completely sexy. ________________________________________________________ Gautier -- http://www.mysunrise.ch/users/gdm/gsoft.htm NB: For a direct answer, e-mail address on the Web site!
