I agree that as a 3GL systems programming language Bliss is without peer. It blows the socks off C for speed, power, and portability. OTOH, if one doesn't need to count cycles or talk to individual bits, it has some problems. It also offers the developer a lot more alternatives for foot-shooting. I am reminded of a great quote from one of the designers of Bliss (Lahovsky), "When I program in Bliss I feel I am in complete control of the machine.
