I take it you have not tried to connect a client machine to an oracle server at the time you had to edit the configuration files by hand. Oracle likes parethesises, lots of them. To a end-user those are about as useful as XML is. XML is good when you have a program talking to another program and they have lots of CPU cycles to spare. It is NOT good for human readable files. One would think that just reading one of those wonderful XML books reeinforced that impression. greetings,
