Without discussing whether they are correct, I see a parallel with the GNU project. GNU (GNU's Not Unix) was a project to write an OS. They decided they needed to write a compiler first. While the result was a very useful free compiler, it is instructive to note that GNU never created an OS. -- Jeffrey Carter
