I built gcc2.7.x and 2.8.x in about 5 hours wall 
clock time on a Sun 10/51.

A good PC from the late 90s should do it in less time.

And yes i had the the make invocations in my head at that time.

And no i don't have access to a PC with OS/2 on !!
Send me one and i could take a look on gcc/gnat...
