In a nutshell they encourage everybody to use C as much as possible (even C++ may be "inconvenient")! A snippet of (more or less common) wisdom endorsed by FSF: "C has one other advantage over C++ and other compiled languages: more people know C, so more people will find it easy to read and modify the program if it is written in C." I _really_ know better as my first advisor suggested I steered away from a "too specific language" and implemented my MSc project in C/C++. . . HTH Cesar
