If you want to do serious development on Windows, you really ought to be using NT or 2K. Even then, Windows can be made to be a good development platform only if you are willing to go spend a lot of money on extra software. For my purposes it *still* isn't so hot after that, until you go and install Cygwin as well. Linux is a good development platform right out of the box. But most of this is going to be overkill for simple school projects anyway. -- T.E.D.
