VADSworks is based on VxWorks (an RTOS by Wind River systems) and is currently available for SPARC, MIPS R3000, and 68K cross targets. It will soon be available for DEC Alpha targets as well. VADScross is based on our own RTOS and is currently available for 68000/20/30/40, 88K, R3000/R4000, PowerPC 601 (604 soon), and x86. You didn't mention which host and target processor you plan to use. Looks like you are at an educational institution which probably means the you will qualify for the SEED program which will provide you compilers and support for free.
