Or by someone having experience when confronted by someone who obviously
doesn't have it.  How many people "knew" that larger objects fall faster
when Galileo* announced his "experience" that objects fall at the same
speed?

A man with experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument.

* I heard that the story of Galileo dropping things from the 
tower of Pisa is a myth.  Anyone have _good_ evidence either way?
