That's true. Some of the funnest things I do in life are while I'm working. But you have to admit that people in jobs like yours and mine are _very_ lucky. Most people just tolerate, if not actually dislike their jobs. > 80 hour work weeks are not especially productive; indeed, people who work > too many hours are less productive than people who work closer to 40. I don't know what the precise cut-off point is. It's certainly less than 80 and certainly more than 40. And it's not even as cut and dried as that. One 80 hour week, in isolation, can be more productive than two 40 hour weeks, because of the minimizing of overhead and having to refocus on the task. On the other hand, four 80 hour weeks in a row may be only as productive as four 60 hour weeks in a row. But _in general_, I think it's fair to say that employees would like to work less for the same pay and employers would like them to work more. In my part of the industry, at least (games), 80 hour weeks at the end of the development cycle are required. That's one reason I decided to become a consultant--so I can avoid that kind of thing. For one thing, working 80 hours/week in an office doesn't give me time to work on my own projects, that are _really_ fun. :)
