If it's a "money issue", don't except to make lots of money (or any for that matter). You get a job and you get paid according to what your employer wants and needs, not what you are capable of. As a programmer, it is almost necessary to know a few different languages, or at least different applications of one language. If you don't think you can do something like C or C++, stay out of the field. Consider web design. I don't think C or C++ are inherently "difficult". The thing is that they are such powerful languages and their applications are so widespread that it may seem overwhelming at first.
