It seems to me that all the arguments for C over Ada can be duplicated in any good Macro Assembler over C. Thus LDM =A,h10 is close to the machine level, terse, flexible (in assembler you can multiply floats by booleans! ) is as efficient as it can be, and by using the proper tools, can be made portable and safe. Obviously C is for wimps who can't hack Assembler, just as Ada is for wimps who can't hack C. Any language can be used. It's all a matter of opinion and what you're used to. Real programmers would of course write 03707 instead of that LDM guff (it's terser). Heck, the meaning of 0011010010000101 is OBVIOUS to the meanest intelligence, and it tells you exactly which parts of the CPU are being used, and uses a reduced character set which an expert can use most efficiently! -- aebrain@dynamite.com.au <> <> How doth the little Crocodile | Alan & Carmel Brain| xxxxx Improve his shining tail? | Canberra Australia | xxxxxHxHxxxxxx _MMMMMMMMM_MMMMMMMMM 100026.2014 compuserve o OO*O^^^^O*OO o oo oo oo oo By pulling MAERKLIN Wagons, in 1/220 Scale See http://www.z-world.com/graphics/z/master/8856.gif for picture
