First _commercial_ aircraft that is 100% fly by wire, no mechanical backups, built in the USA, of course. As far as I know, the first production aircraft, including _military_ aircraft, that was 100% fly by wire with no mechanical backups of any kind, and built in the USA, has been in production for about two decades now. The first _digital_ (software-based) production yah de dah de dah has been in production for about six years. The F-16, of course, has the honor on both counts.
