That format for the disk name only works with Windows NT and Windows 2000. Did you try it on one of those, or on Windows 95/98/ME? (So says the platform documentation in the MSDN library, January 2001). (Note that the original poster's problem cannot be solved with this syntax, because it doesn't work on Windows 98, which he indicated was his target.) Randy.
