MIL-STD-498 refers to the Software Development and Documentation document used by the Department of Defense and its contractors. The purpose of the standard is to establish uniform requirements for software development and documentation. What did MIL-STD-498 replace? MIL-STD-498 replaces DOD-STD-2167A which is now considered obsolete as of 5 Dec 94. MIL-STD-498 also supercedes DOD-STD-7935A and DOD-STD-1703(NS) as of 5 Dec 94. Can I make recommendations on MIL-STD-498? Yes. You must use the Standarization Document Improvement proposal (DD form 1426).
