My choice of Ada is to drive the errors to compile-time (on my machine) rather than run-time (on my customer's machine). If a program I write in Ada cannot deal with a directory structure created from some other language, that is a defect. To the extent that a common package hides from me the differences between operating systems, it may assist me in adding defects to my programs. Quite frankly, I can do well enough on my own, thank you :-). Larry Kilgallen
