Mike, I can't speak for the others, but if I had written it yea, verily, case sensitivity would be not only a good thing, but a GOOD THING: 1. It's available in (at least) C , Modula 2 (and its succesors?) and Smalltalk. 2. Every project I've ever been on has required adherance to some letter casing convention (whether LRM, `European', whatever). 3. No pretty printer I've ever seen can get comments right (in any reasonable style) in all situations. 4. It is a tremendous convenience (not to mention a relief to my grammar genes) to not have to create something related but non-homonymous like the_element.
