I downloaded ladayada.ps at ~1/2 megabyte. I encountered the ^D and all-on-one-line problem, too, but solved it by running the file through pslinewrap (available from the Adobe file server). I wanted to save the PS image, but at ~1/2 megabyte, it was of marginal utility. However, the file (typical of many PS files with big images) compresses to ~78 kb. Even uuencoded it is ~108 kb.
