There is also a limitation on the reporting of unhandled exceptions by programs linked to run under finder (applications) rather than linked to work as MPW tools. Unhandled exceptions are reported only if the Text_IO package is used (or at least included in a with clause) in at least one of the program's compiled units. But the documentation notes that Text_IO works only for MPW tools. My early experimentation showed that Text_IO output does appear in applications--an alert box displays the line of output under a message that tells you that Text_IO is not supported. However, the box is sometimes located so that only part of it appears on the screen. I haven't experimented enough to determine the conditions under which this occurs. So far, the OK button has always appeared . . . .
