I do agree that mastering C++ is hard; however, I use a subset of the entire language (rarely use inheiritance, for example, at least for my own code), and it only took me about three weeks to get to that level. I'm using C++, I haven't mastered it, but I'm using it, and I'm rather good at writing programs in it (even though they may be bad programs 8-)). But the same is true of almost any language.
